Label: Impulse! Recorded in the spring of 1956, this Messengers unit consists of Donald Byrd (trumpet) Hank Mobley (tenor) Horace Silver (piano) and Doug Watkins (bass) with Blakey on the drums. Blakey liked to go full throttle at all times, and this is no exception. "It's you or no one" is the best of the up-tempo cookers; no tune is done slower than medium tempo. "Nica's dream," "Ecaroh" (Horace backwards), and "Carol's interlude" are all top-notch Blakey performances. Highly recommended. ~ oldhippierick
