Eros Ramazzotti was born on October 28, 1963 as Eros Luciano Walter Ramazzotti. He was born in the beautiful Cinecitta suburb of Rome with a father as pianist. May it be from his father’s influence or be musicians blood but Eros starting playing the guitar at the age of seven. As he grew, his passion for music grew with him and while dreaming of a career in music, he began appearing as an extra in some films occasionally.

With the support and help from his father, Eros wrote songs and tried to gain access to a music conservatory, but unfortunately, he failed the admission examination. Though still not losing hope, he went to a profession unrelated to music. He trained as a bookkeeper but still had his heart set on music. Following his dreams, Ramazzotti in 1981 joined the music contest “Voci Nuove di Catrocaro (new voices of Castrocaro Terme), performed his self-written song “Rock 80” in front of various label representatives, and made it to the finals. With a twist of luck, Ramazzotti received his first contract with DDD and moved to Milan. He was blessed with this chance through the vote he received in the finals from Roberto Galanti and Baron Lando Lanni, who was the representative for the new creation of the Italian Label DDD (Drogueria di Drugolo).

In 1982, Ramazzotti released his first single titled “Ad un amico” (To a Friend). Unfortunately, the song was not successful, but it led him to his mentor Renato Brioschi who provided support and guidance, nurturing Ramazzotti’s talent, leading to his first successful single “Terra promesa” (Promised Land) in 1984. Ramazzotti joined the highly regarded Sanremo Festival and went home a winner for the “Newcomers” category in the competition, and the song was Europe-wide released.

Ramazzotti released his debut album “Cuori Agitate” (Troubled Hearts) with the career single “Una storia importante” (An important story). The single became a huge hit song in various European countries and sold a million copies. After the success of his first entry in the Sanremo Festival, Ramazzotti once again performed there in 1985, singing “Una storia importante,” and the song was ranked at number six.

In 1986, Ramazzotti released his second album “Nuovi eroi” (New Heroes) which earned him double Platinum-awards in Switzerland and Gold in Germany. In addition, for the third time he joined the Sanremo Festival and played “Adesso tu” (Now You) which won him the competition. Soon after in 1987 Ramazzotti released his third album “In certi moment” (Sometimes), and departed on a nine-month long tour. He performed in front of more than a million people. In Germany Ramazzotti’s third album went Gold, and in Switzerland, it went Platinum, which worldwide sold over three million copies. Then on 1988 his seven-track mini-album was released, with the title “Musica e” (Music is).

Ramazzotti’s fifth album “In ogni senso” (In Every Sense) was released on April 1990. The album was certified Gold and Platinum worldwide. The album attracted many journalists and industry professionals including American record producer Clive Davis who gave sound advice to Ramazzotti to perform a concert at the Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Ramazzotti heeded the advice and performed in front of a sell-out crowd. During his stay in the U.S. Ramazzotti performed on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Good Morning America. In 1991 he released a double-CD Eros in Concert and did a long tour with a concert in Barcelona, Spain on December 4 in front of twenty thousand fans. In the following year he released “Tutte storie” and toured Europe and Latin America. In November 1993, at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Berlin, Ramazzotti played his “Cosa della vita”. The album was placed at the Top-5 and earned him Platinum awards, which sold six million copies worldwide. This success guaranteed his contract with BMG International.

The album “Dove c'è musica” (Where There Is Music) was released on May 13, 1996, which was a self-produced album and sold seven million copies. The following year in October, the Greatest Hits CD was released by Ramazzotti, including a duet with Andrea Boccili “Musica è” and “Cose della Vita” (Can’t Stop Thinking of You), a duet with Tina Turner. And according to BMG International, the album sold 1.2 million units in its first week. The album was certified five times Platinum by IFPI (Europe) and certified twice Latin-type Platinum by the RIAA in the U.S. In Addition, Ramazzotti received a “Best International Male Artist of the Year” award at Germany’s Echo Music Awards.

Ramazzotti took a leap from being a singer to a recognized producer. He produced an album for Gianni Morandi in early 2000 with the title “Come fa bene l’amore (As Good Love). In October Ramazzotti released his eight studio album “Stilelibero” (Freestyle) including “Più che puoi” (As Much As You Can), a duet with Cher.
