Gwen Renee Stefani was born on the 3 October 1969. She was born in California, U.S.A in the small town of Fullerton at St. Jude’s Hospital. She is the daughter of Dennis Stefani and Patti Flynn, and has three siblings: Eric, Jill, and Todd. Stefani’s is 5’7” in height and together with her light complexion; she has earned the nicknames “Sunshine” or “G-loc.”. She is among the leading rock female musicians today with hits including “Hollaback girl”, “The Sweet Escape”, “Walk Away Renee”, “Hey Baby” and “Underneath It All” to name just a few.

Gwen first entered the music industry while still a teenager after joining the popular band, No Doubt, started by her brother Eric. She became the bands lead singer and grew into music and finally she released her first solo album 2004 entitled “Love, Angel, Music, Baby,” The 80s music inspired album incorporated styles such as electro and new wave. The album included collaborations with artistes such as Linda Perry, The Neptunes, New Order, Nellee Hooper and Andre 3000. The album did well in the charts, peaking at number 7 on the Billboard 200, and sold over 309,000 copies in the first week. The third single in the album, “Hollaback Girl”, became the number one digital download with over one million downloads. Other hits on the album include “What You Waiting For?”, and “Rich Girl” a popular collaboration with female rapper Eve. The album’s incredible success won several nominations. In 2005, Stefani was nominated for “Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.” At the 2006 Grammy Awards, Stefani was nominated for five awards: “Best Pop Vocal Album,” “Best Female Pop Vocal Performance,” “Record of the Year,” “Best Rap/Sung Collaboration” and “Album of the Year.” Stefani also won the “World’s Best-Selling Female Artist” at the World Music Awards.

Gwen went on to release her second solo album in 2006 entitled “The Sweet Escape, recorded by Guy Charbonneau’s of Le Mobile Remote Recording Studio. It included collaborations with Akon and Tim Rice-Oxley and included further collaboration with Linda Perry, The Neptunes and Kanal. The album, concentrated on electro dance music. The album had several hits including “In the Morning”, “Wind It Up” and “The Sweet Escape” which was the highest selling single of the year. These are her two main solo albums. Generally, Gwen Stefani is one of the best music sellers in the world with around 40 million in sales worldwide including her work with rock band No Doubt.

Her career with No Doubt was also quite successful. As stated earlier, Gwen’s brother Eric introduced her into music and she later became the lead singer of the band. In 1986

The band had its own difficulties until they signed with Interscope Records in 1991 and the band’s career finally started to take shape. In 1992, they released a self-titled debut album with a ska-pop sound that underperformed due to the dominance of Grunge Rock during the early 1990s.

Their second self released album, “The Beacon Street Collection in 1995 followed by their third album “Tragic Kingdom” which sold 16 million copies globally and won several award nominations. Five years later in 2000, No Doubt released their fourth album, “Return of Saturn” and “Rock Steady” which had more of a reggae and dancehall feel. In 2001, she decided to go solo shortly after this and released “Love, Angel, Music, Baby” in 2004.

Gwen has had her share of love while still in the music industry. It started with the relationship with fellow band member Tony Kanal of No Doubt, which came to an abrupt end in 1995. A year later, she met her present husband, Gavin Rossdale a popular musician of the soft rock genre and a guitarist for the band “Bush.” The two met while Gwen was performing with No doubt and the rockiness of their relationship inspired No Doubt’s 2001 album, Rock Steady Despite all the difficulty, their love rekindled and they were married on 14 September, 2002 at the St. Paul’s Church in Covent Garden.

Two years later, the couple realized that Gavin had a daughter from a previous relationship with Pearl Lowe. This complicated their relationship and Stefani released the single “Danger zone,” widely believe to be about this discovery. The dust settled as the couple announced they were expecting a child who was born on May 26, 2006 at the Cedars-Sinal Medical Center in Los Angeles. They named him Kingston James McGregor Rossdale. A second child was born in August 2008 by the name Zuma Nesta Rock Rossdale.
