Jack Johnson mp3
Born on May 18 1975, Jack Hody Johnson, known simply as Jack Johnson is an American folk soft rock and acoustic singer-songwriter. He achieved commercial success with his 2001 debut album, “Brushfire Fairytales” and has since released an additional four albums, EPs and surfing movie soundtracks. To date, he has sold over 15 million albums and his repertoire includes hits such as “Upside Down,” “Flake,” “Sitting, Waiting, Wishing,” “If I Had Eyes,” “You and Your Heart,” and”Better Together.”
Johnson grew up on the North Shore of Oahu Island, Hawaii where he was born. The son of surfer Jeff Johnson, he took a keen interest in the sport and began surfing at the age of five and at 17 was the youngest to make the Pipeline Masters Finals on the North Shore. A terrible accident that resulted in 150 stitches in his forehead and a few missing teeth ended his surfing career. Johnson graduated from Kahuku High School and went on to attend the University of California, Santa Barbara. He grauted with a degree in film and it was in college where he discovered a passion for music and the rhythm guitar where he played as part of a party band. His songwriting influences are myriad including Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Radiohead, Otis Redding, and The Beatles amongst many others.
In France with surfing friend G. Love, it was G. Love who would record Johnson’s song “Rodeo Clowns” for his 1999 album “Philadelphonic,” which would become the album’ first single. Johnson would then co-direct the documentary surf film “Thicker Than Water” and compose the accompanying soundtrack.
His four-track music demo soon caught the attention of J.P Plunier, and they would work together on his debut album, “Brushfire Fairytales” with Ben Harper making a guest appearance on the album. The album was released in February 2001.
In 2002, Johnson directed and starred in the surf film, “The September Sessions” that was released in December of that year. Again, the soundtrack featured Johnson’s own music. He went back to the studio in 2003 to begin recording his second full-length album, “On and On.” It was the first album recorded at Johnson’s Mango Tree Studio in his hometown and first album released through the Moonshine Conspiracy Records in May 2003.
The year 2004 saw Johnson in the starring role of another surf film, “A Brokedown Melody” and in Ocotber, he returned to Mango Tree Studio to begin recording, “In Between Dreams,” his third and follow up album that was released in March 2005.
“Sing-A-Longs and Lullabies for the Film Curious George” was the soundtrack to the success film “Curious George” and released by Johnson in February 2006. It was the first soundtrack to peak at number 1 since the Bad Boys II Soundtrack in August of 2003 and the first animated film soundtrack to top the Billboard 200 since the Pocahontas soundtrack in 1995.
For his fourth album, “Sleep Through the Static,” Johnson enlisted the help of JP Plunier. It was recorded using 100% solar energy at the Solar Powered Plastic Plant Studio in Los Angeles and kicked off a world tour with its release in February 2008. A live album and DVD of the 2008 world tour, “En Concery” was released in October 2009. That same year, Johnson produced the Animal Liberation Orchestra’s fifth studio album, “Man of the World,” featuring his vocals.
February 2010 saw the official announcement of his fifth studio album, “To the Sea,” was being recorded at Mango Tree Studio and scheduled for reelase in June 2010 followed by a tour of Europe, Australia and New Zealand. The first singles from his fifth album, “You and Your Heart” was released in April 2010. The world tour played at a range of venues across Europe, New Zealand, Australia, and it went on to Canada, the USA and Japan with all of the tours profits going to charity.
