Renowned artist Justin Timberlake of English descent was born in Tennessee, with his claims of Native American ancestry yet unsubstantiated. His grandfather who was a Baptist Minister and his parents divorced in 1985 and remarried later in life. As such, he was raised a Baptist, even he believes himself to be “more spiritual than religious.”
He grew up between Memphis and Millington in Shelby Forest. He first attempted to sing country songs under the name Justin Randall on Star search only to join Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and JC Chasez, in The Mickey Mouse Club until its end in 1994. He then formed a singing group with Chasez by the name of 'N Sync.
'N Sync was a famous and extremely popular band in the 1990's. Their self-titled debut album released in 1998 sold 11 million copies. Their next album, “No Strings Attached,” appeared in 2000 and within a week of its release sold 2.4 million copies. The band’s third album “Celebrity” soon followed and was the second fastest selling in history. After this, the group took some time off from work while Timberlake started worked on his first solo album. This irked other group members and the famous group that had performed in mega events like Academy Awards, Olympics, and the SuperBowl disbanded.
Not only did N Sync provide Justin with a certain degree of respect in the music industry, it also helped him establish himself as a world famous singer. Meanwhile, in 1999, Timberlake also tried out as an actor. His debut was in “Model Behavior” by the Disney channel.
His debut solo album “Justified” was released in 2002 after his performance at the MTV Video Music Awards. This album received a mixed response but is considered a success. This album included hit singles like Rock your body. Along with Christina Aguilera, they promoted his album on the Justified/Stripped tour. Later, he recorded a song that earned him around six million dollars by striking a deal with McDonald’s, “I’m lovin’ it” for their marketing campaign.
In 2004, Janet Jackson and Timberlake performed together in the halftime show of Super Bowl 38 for an audience of above 140 million worldwide. This performance coined the term "wardrobe malfunction", in which Justin tore Jackson's black dress in order to reveal her costume that resulted in an embarrassing moment as Janet’s breast came in to view briefly. This controversy resulted in both issuing apologies to avoid exclusion from the 2005 Grammy Awards. That year, Timberlake gave a scripted apology and became the proud winner of two Grammy Awards.
Justin decided to pursue acting for a while and appeared in several feature films. In 2004, he worked as a Journalist in the movie thriller Edison Force. His other notable movie adventures include Black Snake Moan, Alpha Dog and Southland Tales. He also gave a voice over to the character of Prince Artie Pendragon in Shrek the Third.
While recording a single title “Signs”, Timberlake felt throat discomfort and surgical intervention removed Nodules from his throat in May 2005 that prevent him singing for several months. Meanwhile, he decided to establish his very own recording company by the name of JayTee Records.
In 2006, Justin released another album titled 'FutureSex/LoveSounds. This was an immediate success as well. The most successful of the album's singles "SexyBack" remained at the top of the Billboards for at least seven weeks. Then Justin declared that he would like to concentrate more on his music than acting. In 2008, he won a further two Grammy Awards.
In 2007, Justin and Madonna, collaborated and sang a duet titled "4 minutes". He also appeared in a few more of Madonna's songs and performed alongside her in her tour for the album as well. After ending his tour for his album, he took a short hiatus from music to star in “The Love Guru” and “The Open Road,” both of which were Mike Myers productions.
Timberlake then allowed "Follow My Lead" to be released for download via Myspace in order to collect funds for donation to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
In 2008, he appeared in T.I's sixth album titled "Dead And Gone". He also made a guest appearance in Love Sex Magic, which was Ciara's second single. This single also hit the charts with enough force to jolt the musical world.
His latest appearance has been in 2010, in the movie The Social Film. He has been a nominee for seven awards for his acting in this particular film, leaving everyone wondering about the what and when of his next album.
