Nicole Scherzinger mp3
Nicole Prescovia Elikolani Valiente Scherzinger was born on June 29, 1978, in Honolulu to parents Alfonso Valiente and Rosemary. At the age of six, she moved to Louisville, Kentucky with her mother, her sister Ke'ala and her German American stepfather Gary Scherzinger. In Louisville Nicole attended the Youth Performing Arts School at duPont Manual High School and began performing with Actors Theatre of Louisville. Scherzinger majored in acting and musical theatre at Wright State University but put her studies on hold to sing backing vocals for the rock band “Days of the New”.
Her career began when she competed in the premiere season of The WB's television show “Popstars”, on which she earned the spot of main vocalist on the group “Eden's Crush”. The group’s first single “Get over Yourself (Goodbye)” hit the top ten on Billboard Hot 100. The group toured in support of both N’Sync and Jessica Simpson. However, the group was short lived as their record company, “London-Sire Records” folded and the group disbanded. A few promotional solos followed with Scherzinger using the alias Nicole Kea covering “Breakfast in Bed” for the soundtrack of “50 First Dates” in 2003. She collaborated with Yoshiki from the Japanese rock band “X Japan” on his “Violet UK” project and performing the English version of “I'll Be Your Love” live with the Tokyo Symphonic Orchestra. The track appeared on the album “Exposition of Global Harmony”, a various artists compilation album.
In May 2003, Scherzinger joined the Pussycat Dolls, who were being re-cast as the group evolved from a dance act to a music group. Scherzinger became the group’s main vocalist. The Pussycat Doll’s successful debut single “Don’t Cha” made her well known. Because of the Pussycat Doll’s success, Scherzinger went recorded a series of duets and guest vocals with many male artists including Shaggy, Vittorio Grigolo and Will Smith. In 2006, she co-led on vocals with Avant on his single “Lie About Us”, and with Diddy's on his hit “Come to Me”.
Her debut album “Her Name Is Nicole” was eventually shelved in 2009 after its release being delayed multiple times. The album’s lead single “Whatever U Like” enjoyed no success upon its release in July, 2007. The second single released in September, “Baby Love” also charted poorly in the US but reached the Top 15 in many European countries. The single “Baby Love” was remixed and a bonus track on the Pussycat Doll’s album “Doll Domination.” The third and fourth tracks, “Supervillain” and “Puakenikeni” were released on iTunes and both failed to chart.
The year 2008 would prove to be a busy one. In April Scherzinger recorded a cover version of “Rio” by Duran Duran for an advertising campaign for Unilever's Caress brand of body wash, she contributed to a track by will.i.am called “Yes We Can” in support of Barack Obama and in September Scherzinger joined an all-star cast to perform the charity song “Just Stand Up” on live TV. That year the Pussycat Dolls released the single “When I Grow Up” which peaked at number nine on the US Hot 100 and number one on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play. Another single “Whatcha Think About That” with Missy Elliott reached the top 20 in several countries even though it failed to chart in the US.
The Pussycat Dolls’ album “Doll Domination” was finally released as a standard and deluxe edition. The album debuted at number four on the Billboard 200, and sold 79,000 copies in its first week. “Doll Domination” included some of the songs intended for Scherzinger's own album, “Happily Never After” and “Who's Gonna Love You” as recorded and “When I Grow Up” after adding backing vocals which was released as the album's lead single. The album produced two more singles, “I Hate This Part” a worldwide top 20 hit and “Bottle Pop” a number-one club song. On January 2009, Scherzinger lead the Pussycat Dolls on their second world tour, “Doll Domination Tour” to support the album.
Scherzinger’s solo performances in 2009 included her performance of “America the Beautiful” at WWE's WrestleMania XXV in Houston, Texas at the Reliant Stadium on April 5, 2009 and with guitarist Slash on October 2 in Las Vegas. On February 1, 2010, Scherzinger with other artists re-recorded “We Are the World”, a charity single for the victims of the 2010 Haiti earthquake. The song debuted during NBC's coverage of the opening ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Olympics. It was released as a single on iTunes.
A new solo song, “Nobody Can Change Me”, was premiered on Ryan Seacrest's KIIS FM radio show on May 24, 2010. The official single from her upcoming album, “Poison”, premiered on her official website and on YouTube on October 14, 2010 and peaked at number three on the UK Singles Chart becoming Scherzinger's most successful single after its official release in November, 2010. On December 4, 2010 Scherzinger performed at the Jingle Bell Ball at London's O2 Arena. The second single from her album, “Don't Hold Your Breath” was released on March 13, 2011 and it peaked at #1 on the UK Singles Chart. A week later her solo album, “Killer Love” hit the stands. The third single, “Right There” featuring rapper 50 Cent is to be released in May 2011 in the US and June 2011 in the UK.
Both as Pussycat Dolls’ lead vocalist and as a solo performer Nicole Scherzinger has contributed greatly to the Pop and R&B music scene and her fans are definitely looking forward to hearing more from her as part of the Pussycat Dolls and on her own.
