In 1985 H.P. Baxxter and Rick J. Jordan founded the Celebrate the Nun band, with lead vocals by Baxxter, female vocal with Britt Maxime, and Jordan as keyboards and sound engineering. Their first album Meanwhile was released on 1988. Its single Will You Be There peaked at number 5 on June 23, 1990 on the Billboard Dance/Club play chart, and She’s a Secretary/Strange at number twelve.
In 1990 Slin Thompson, the fourth member left the band and in 1991 the band released Continuous album. Then in 1993 Celebrate the Nun members joined Ferris Bueller and created a remix team The Loop under the management of Jens Thele.
In December 1993, Scooter started with their debut single covering René & Gaston’s "Vallée De Larmes" (Valley of Tears). In April 1994 at The Palladium” in Hamburg, Scooter performed their first live show. The single Hyper-Hyper went triple gold, and the Move Your Ass achieved gold status in Germany.
Scooter’s second album Our Happy Hardcore was certified gold in Germany, the album Age of Love ranked number 19 on Germany’s Media Control. Then in 1998 Ferris Bueller left the group and was replaced by DJ Axel Coon. Also in 1998 Scooter released How Much is the Fish single which went gold in Germany.
The next album No Time to Chill earned a gold-award in Finland and certified gold in Poland. And in 1999 the single Faster Harder Scooter was released from the album Back to the Heavyweight Jam and the band achieved a platinum-award in Sweden. The Fuck the Millennium single earned Scooter a gold-award in Sweden, and Back to the Heavyweight Jam reached gold status in Sweden.
In May 2000 Scooter released the album Sheffield, and later were awarded a Comet by the 2000 VIVa Comet Awards for Most Successful Dance Act. The following year on May 21, 2001 Posse (I Need You on the Floor) single was released. Then in June 2001, the album We Bring the Noise was released.
The single Ramp! (The Logical Song) in December 2001, which was from The Push the Beat for This Jam compilation album. The single was certified platinum in Australia and Norway, and gold in the UK. The album was released on January 7, 2002 and reached a gold status in the UK, Sweden and Norway.
In 2002 Alex Coon left the band and Jay Frog took his place. Scooter then released the compilation album 24 Carat Gold in November 2002, with the single Nessaja that achieved a gold status in Germany. The following year in March, The Stadium Techno Experience album was released which was certified gold in Sweden, Hungary and Norway.
On November 8, 2004 the album Mind The Gap was released, followed by the album Who’s Got the Last Laugh Now? with the Who’s Got the Last Laugh Now? Tour, followed by the release of Excess All Areas CD and 2-disc DVD.
On August 14, 2006 Jay Frog left the band and replaced by Michael Simon. Scooter then played at the Tufertschwil Open Air in Switzerland. Their next album The Ultimate Aural Orgasm was released on February 9, 2007. Then on November 30, 2007, the album Jumping All Over the World was released.
In November 2007 Scooter toured Australia and in March 2008 they embarked on tour of the UK as part of the Clubland Live. Their latest album earned a platinum award in the UK, and in February 2009 the tribute album Hands on Scooter was released.
In the summer of 2009 Scooter announced the release of Under The Radar Over The Top, with the single J’adore Hardcore released on August 14, 2009. And on February 9, 2010 Scooter was confirmed to perform the official song of the 2010 IIHF World Championship.
The Under The Radar Over The Top Tour throughout March 2010 featured Sheffield Jumpers. Then the DVD Live in Hamburg is scheduled for release on May 7. And on May 10, 2010, the band announced a tour Stuff the Turkey X-mas tour to take place in December 2010 throughout German cities. Also, a very large concert in June the next year is to take place at HSH Nordbank Arena.
An updated version of single Friends titled Friends Turbo was in April 2011 released as the official theme for the movie New Kids Turbo. Currently, Scooter is working on their album The Big Mash Up, which will be released in August 2011.
Scooter continues to enchant fans regardless of the few times that they have changed one particular spot in the band, and through their hard work, will remain an inspiration for all aspiring artists wanting to reach the same success.
