Jamaican American singer Sean Kingston aka Kisean Anderson was born on February 3, 1980 in Miami Florida and moved to Kingston Jamaica at the age of six. His stage name is an amalgamation of his first name “Sean” and the capital of Jamaica, “Kingston.” Tommy Rotem of Beluga Heights, a company noted for discovering and developing artists, discovered Kingston in 2007 on MySpace. Kingston was signed as a partnership deal with Sony Music.

Working with Beluga Heights help refine Kingston’s rap style to create a more melodic sound that was more marketable. As part of a venture between Epic Records and Koch Records, Kingston recorded and released a single, “Beautiful Girls” in May 2007 that rocketed to the top of the US Billboard Hot 100, the UK Singles Chart and numerous other international charts including Australia and Canada. His self titled debut album followed in July 2007 and was certified Gold in the USA and Platinum in Canada. The singles success won him the spot as the opening act for Gwen Stefani’s 2007 “The Sweet Escape Tour and for select dates in Beyoncé’s “The Beyoncé Experience Tour.”

His followed up album was over a year in the making. “Tomorrow” was released on September 22, 2009. The singles “Fire Burning” and “Face Drop” were released along with five digital singles from the upcoming album as a part of the album’s promotion. The jury is still out on how this album will perform but it has not held Kingston back, as he co-wrote “Whatcha Say” for Jason Derülo, and signed singer Lyaz to his record label and worked with UK girl group Sugababes for the track “Miss Everything,” for their album Sweey released in March 2010. He and DJ Khaled have also been featured on Bow Wow’s new single “For My Hood” that will be featured in the upcoming movie “The Lottery Ticket.

Now, Kingston continues to work on his third studio album, “King of Kingz,” with the lead single tentatively titled ‘Dumb Love,” along with a music video after the song was featured in an episode of “The Suite Life on Deck” where Kingston was a guest star. Tentative collaborations include artists T-Pain, Nicki Minaj, Kanye West, Wyclef Jean, Akon and Dr. Dre. Unfortunately, the rap community came down hard on him for his collaboration in “Eenie Meenie” with Justin Bieber. “King of Kingz” has been released as a mixtape for free download only, with an unconfirmed mix tape with Justin Bieber entitled “Our World.” Kingston has been on tour in Africa for the first months of 2011, performing at the Cross Roads Hotel in Lilongwe, Malawiin April, and again in Zimbabwe and is scheduled to perform in Ghana in June 2011.
