Patrick Chukwuemeka Okogwu is a British rapper from South London. Born on the 7th of November 1988, he is better known by his stage name “Tinie Tempah. His career began in 2006 when he gained a airplay on the British music TV “Channel U” for his single “Tears,” and more with his collaboration with grime artist Ultra and producer songwriters Agent X for the song “Perfect GCD Hood Economics Room 147.” His first break as a musician came with Sony’s PlayStation Portable (PSP) futuristic racing game Wipeout Pure where his song “Listen To The Vibe” featuring Yazmin & DJ Ironik. This success lead to a promotional European tour alongside Sway and Dizzee Rascal.

Together with his cousin and manager Dumi Oburota, they founded an independent label Disturbing London for TInie’s music and it grew rapidly as they began signing other young artists in a move to establish themselves as the UK’s equivalent of Def Jam or Roc-A-Fella label, creating a label for quality artists When talent scout and consultant Jade Richardson saw Tinie performing at the 2009 Wireless Festival, she contacted Parlophone Records president Miles Leonard. Together they visited Tinie and Dumi’s studio a few weeks later and were impressed with what the duo were doing and planned to do with so little - they had raised most of their startup funds via student loans and as car salesmen. Tinie signed with Parlophone in October 2009 with a web blog sponsored competition, with the winner being invited to High Tea at Claridges to celebrate the occasion.

Tinie’s debut single “Pass Out” was released in February 2010 and soared to the top UK Singles Chart, selling over 92,000 copies of the single that dominated the chart for two consecutive weeks. His second single, “Frisky” was released later in June that peaked at number 2 on the UK Singles Chart. He would support Rihanna at four “dates” on her “10 Date UK Tour”with Frisky and performed “Pass Pout” at Glastonbury on the Pyramid Stage with Snoop Dogg in June. The summer would see him performing at at numerous university summer balls across the UK including T4 On The Beach, the Wireless Festival in Hyde Park and both days of the V Festival.

Tinie’s third single, “Written in the Stars” was released in September 2010 and again stormed to number 1 on the UK Singles Chart to sell over 115,000 copies in its first week, his biggest selling single to date as the single charted in other countries. Tinie would team up with Swedish House Mafia for his fourth single “Miami 2 Ibiza” released in October that would peak at number 4 in the UK and become his first number 1 on the Netherlands Mega Single Top 100 chart.

He finally released his long anticipated debut album in October, 2010 entitled “Disc-Overy.” The Album featured all of his previous singles. On 11 October, Tinie kicked off his first UK tour supported by Chiddy Bang and would win his first two MOBO Awards. He would release two more singles in 2010. His fifth single, “Invincible,” featuring Kelly Rowland was released on Christmas Day 2010 peaked at number 11 on the UK Singles Chart followed by “Wonderman” featuring Ellie Goulding.

Tinie would join Usher on the European Leg of the OMG Tour in January 2011 and was also received the highest number of nominations (four in total) for the Brit Awards. His Single “Written in the Stars” was the Wrestlemania XXVII countdown promo during the WWE PPV Royal Rumble on 30 January 2011 and has been confirmed as the official theme for Wrestlemania XXVII.

He won his first Brit Award for “Best British Breakthrough Act” and for “Best British Single” on 15 February 2011 and has expressed hopes that his second album will go triple platinum as it will have a more “electronic” and “live” feel. This album has not yet been titled but is scheduled for release in late 2011, with the album’s first Stargate produced single, “Till I’m Gone” featuring Wiz Khalifa.
